Meeting Our Economic Needs Together – Childcare Webinar
Join us May 12th at 2:00pm – 3:30pm to discuss how cooperatives and other structures can be used to provide essential childcare services for working families.
Presenters will be Caitlin Jensen, Executive Director of Zero to Five Montana (https://www.zerotofive.org/), and Kate McMahon Consultant and Founder of Applied Communications. MCDC Program Specialist, Eric Bergman, will moderate the discussion. Caitlin will provide an overview of childcare in Montana and the work of Zero to Five to bring together different sectors to address the needs. Kate will follow with a review of the Childcare Cooperative Feasibility study her office conducted for Bear Paw Economic Development in Havre, Montana. These presentations will be followed by a discussion on how the cooperative business model can be a solution for community’s childcare needs. Questions and webinar attendees participation is encouraged.

Caitlin Jensen is the Executive Director of the Zero to Five Montana and is passionate about working for an organization dedicated to Montana’s children. Prior to this role, Caitlin served as the Head Start Collaboration Director in both Washington State and Montana, and has worked on key state, federal and tribal policy areas specific to child care, head start, language revitalization, home visiting and workforce development. Her graduate degree is in social work with a focus on policy and advocacy from the University of Washington. Her launch into early childhood began 17 years ago while working in a Seattle Head Start classroom during college. Born in Wolf Point, and a Washington resident for many years, she is happy to call Montana home again.
